IBM Internship Backend Developer Intern (z/OS & Hardware Support)

Job Overview: IBM is looking for a passionate and technically skilled Back-end Developer Intern to join the Product Engineering support team. In this role, you will work with the z Hardware or z/OS support teams to maintain the service structure and serviceability of IBM’s legendary mainframe products. This is a unique opportunity to experience firsthand what mainframe customers expect from IBM and navigate the technical complexities of enterprise-grade machines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Product Engineering support sub-teams for z Hardware or z/OS.
  • Design and execute productivity aids required for the infrastructure.
  • Assist in supporting the service structure and serviceability of the mainframe product set.
  • Engage in problem-solving to improve technical processes and infrastructure.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (Electrical Engineering backgrounds also considered).
  • Programming Skills: Knowledge of C, C++, Java, or Assembly is required.
  • Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, Perl, or Bash.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic engineering understanding; knowledge of Mainframes, Computer Architecture, and Computer Networking is a huge plus.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills and a passion for learning.
